Mitch Magnuson

16 National Assistant Coach

Mitch played volleyball at Torrance High School and El Camino College in Southern California in the 1980’s.  He started coaching volleyball at his alma mater (Torrance High School) coaching the girl’s freshman team in 1987 to an undefeated season and the boy’s varsity team to 3rd place in the Bay League taking them to the CIF playoffs.  The following year he took over the girl’s varsity team coming in first place in Bay League losing in the second round of CIF playoffs.  He coached both boy’s and girl’s club teams at Torrance VC and a girl’s team at South Bay VC.  Fast Forward to 2008, where he moved to San Antonio and helped coach his daughter’s 13 National team at Impact VC to Junior Nationals in Miami, FL finishing 2nd in the American Division.  This is Mitch’s eighth season with SA Force. While coaching with Tisha Petition (Head Coach) for 7 seasons, their teams qualified for junior nationals in the first season, and the next season they won a junior national championship in the Patriot division for SA Force.  He has also assisted Keith Wilson and taken a 16’s team to Nationals in New Orleans.  Mitch coached the Feast Home School (Varisty) program in San Antonio, TX, winning 36 matches and coming in 4th place at the National Christian Home School Tournament in Springfield, MO.  That same year he took 1st place Gold Division at Living Stones Varsity Tournament Alvin, TX, 2nd place at Pleasanton Varsity Tournament Pleasanton, TX and 1st place at Cole Varsity Tournament San Antonio, TX.  Mitch’s love for the sport and being around such wonderful athletes keeps him coming back each year.
