Sarah is going into her second year coaching with Force. Last year, she took the role as “Club Assistant” and traveled and assisted with multiple teams before helping as the 15 National Assistant Coach. She has lived in San Antonio her entire life and attended Ronald Reagan High School. Under Mike Carter, Sarah was a member of the Texas UIL Class 5A Volleyball State Semi-Finalist in 2005 for the first time in school history. In 2006, Reagan was the Class 5A Volleyball State Finalist. While at Reagan, she was a San Antonio-Express News Class 5A All-Area selection and named to the First-Team All District. Sarah also set the school record for service aces in a season, recording 92 her senior year. She was selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State squad and later received a Division 1 full Scholarship to Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Sarah played club volleyball for Centex in 2007, winning the Tour of Texas and also qualifying for the 2007 USA Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball 18 & Under Open Championships.
As a freshman at Austin Peay, Sarah started in 33 matches and averaged a school-record 11.89 assists per game. Her 1,403 total assists that year were the second most in school history, making her only the sixth player to post 1,000 assists in a single season. Sarah’s 72 assists against Southeast Missouri tied for third most in school history, and her 69 assists against Murray State tied for eighth most. Sarah recorded 72 aces her freshman year, fourth most in program history- for a .61 per game average, ranking Sarah fifth in the Nation for Division 1 Volleyball that year and also fifth best in school history.
From 2008 to 2009, Sarah totaled double digit assists in every appearance and was named to First-Team All Ohio Valley Conference, the second setter from Austin Peay to receive First Team recognition. She recorded 1,141 assists her Junior year, 9th in program history, and the fourth setter to record more than 1,000 assists twice during their careers.
As a senior at Austin Peay, Sarah was the third setter to record more than 4,000 career assists and the second player in history to reach 4,000 assists and 1,000 digs. Sarah was named OVC Setter of the Week three times and helped her team win the OVC Tournament title in 2010 for the first time since 1991. Sarah was placed on the OVC All-Tournament Team and faced No. 8 national seed Illinois in the first round of Austin Peay’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
Sarah has been teaching for seven years and is currently a reading teacher at Eisenhower Middle School. She is attending Texas A&M University, to earn her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading and Literacy; Reading Specialist/Master Teacher Certification program
